The Silo Hotel

Cape Town, South Africa

An architectural landmark above the V&A Waterfront, with a purpose-built Family Duplex Suite and Africa's largest contemporary art collection on the doorstep

At a glance

The Silo Hotel occupies six floors above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, within a converted 1920s grain silo transformed by architect Thomas Heatherwick. Its 56 pillowed-glass windows frame sweeping views from Table Mountain to Table Bay harbour, and the hotel sits right at the heart of the V&A Waterfront, one of Cape Town's most walkable and family-friendly districts.

Children of all ages are genuinely welcome here, with a purpose-built Family Duplex Suite designed specifically for younger guests and a concierge team that keeps a running list of the best children's activities in the city. As the hotel's own team puts it, this is a place where young children and grandparents alike can enjoy Cape Town's bright diversity together, making it a strong choice for multi-generational family stays as much as couples.

Why families love it

Family Duplex Suite purpose-built with a smaller second bedroom designed specifically for younger guests

Royal Suites and Family Duplex Suites both sleep four, giving larger families genuine space to spread out

Cave Golf, an 18-hole indoor mini-golf course, and the Jolly Roger pirate ship both nearby in the Waterfront
